The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED)
On Dec 2, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) was donated 12 fellowships valuing 50% of tuition (equivalent to 1.5 million VND / month) by Vietnamese American Scholarship Fund (VASF) and Fund for Encouragement of Self – Reliance (CESR) to hearing loss students and hearing loss illiteracy adults for one schooling year at CED. The programs that children and people with hearing loss may get scholarship will be:
1. Preparatory program for 1st grade, dedicated for 5-7 years old children with hearing loss.
2. Vocational and Inclusive Education Program
3. Illiteracy Elimination Program for deaf adults under 50 years old

On Dec 3rd 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) and HCMC Deaf Club attended program “Kindness Festival” in Suoi Tien Tourist Compound on occasion of International Disability Day organized by Department of Labour, Invalids and Society in cooperation with Suoi Tien Tourist Company on Nov 30 2019
On Dec 5th, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) organized drawing courses for all CED students on Wednesdays. The drawing subject is different by month and for December the students had drawn many subjects of Christmas, Noel tree, seasonal cards … The students are taught for drawing simple lines, color mixing, layout ….
On Dec 6th, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) responsed campaign for Mar 3 2020 – “International Day for Hearing Care” of World Health Organization WHO on HOW TO PREVENT FROM HEARING LOSS with following contents:
1. Do not insert any object into the ear.
2. Use earplugs andearmuffs in noisy places.
3. In case of any ear problems, consult a doctor immediately.
4. Check if medicines you take can affect your hearing.
5. Have your hearing regularly
6. If advised to do so, use a hearing device as indicated.
On Dec 13, 2019 Mrs Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED Center was invited by British Council to share about Sign Language and Communication Skills with people with hearing loss for its 15 staffs. Enhancing perception hearing loss to community is CED responsibility and happiness.
On Dec 14, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) was invited to participate in activity to celebrate Christmas Day at International School of HCMC. CED students participated in activities of folding and throwing plane papers, badminton, seasonal card making, gift wrapping, decorating Xmas tree, photography practicing, planting… End of the day, each teacher and student was selected one gift for home.
On Dec 16, 2019 Mrs Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED Center participated in a workshop announcing about Justice Innovation Fund on subject "Strengthening access to justice and projection of citizen's rights in the field of labour & employment, and conducting administrative procedures in access to health and education services."
On Dec 20, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) organized Christmas event for all teachers and students. The program was comprised of performing music, performing plays of “Sudden Christmas Gift”, playing games and welcoming Santa Claus for his gifts. End of the program was Xmas party.
On Dec 21, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) participated in a training workshop of “Rights of children and business principles” to social civil organizations organized by Sustainable Development Management Institute (MSD)
On Dec 24, 2019 The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) received calendars and 36 Xmas Gifts donated by Mr Duong Chi Vien family, Ms Duong Mai Anh to all teachers and students of CED.
On Dec 30, 2019 Mrs Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED Center consulted profession for application software of AIC Group that is a Group working in many fields such as smart country, science, technology…
Report of “CED Hearing Aid Fund” : in December 2019, CED Hearing Aid Fund donated 16 hearing aids to 13 hearing loss children of poor families at Dong Thap School for Children with disabilities

3. Nguyen Thi Thanh Trang : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
4. Dang Le Thanh Trong : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
5. Nguyen Thi Yen Vy : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
6. Nguyen Doan Anh Dao: 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
7. Le Tan Phat : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
8. Tang Minh Tien : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
9. Pham Thi Thu Tam : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
10. Nguyen Minh Nhut : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
11. Tran Do Dang Khoa : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
12. Ung Huu Tai : 2 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
13. Nguyen Huu Thanh : 1 hearings aids (Dong Thap)
Among these children there are 3 children donated 2 units because
(1) one whose his mother is person with physical disability and his father is ethnic Khmer People;
(2) one whose his mother is severely diseased;
(3) one whose his father is single dad. CED is happy to have chance for bringing some warmness of Xmas season to them.
On behalf of these children, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) respectfully thanks German Lions Foundation and Hear And Say organizations for their donation and thanks to Quang Duc Hearing Aid Service Company for its installation service.
Peer Couselling:
In this month, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) had accomplished 85 cases of consultancy/peer counseling for education, introduction to employment, support for application, survey support, hearing aid, consultancy for parents with difficulty in teaching children with hearing loss, sign language etc…
