THE CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING (CED)
On May 6th 2019, The Center for Research and Education for The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) received the Hearing Care registration from Leftover Love Sharing Community for planning in June 2019.
On May 7th 2019, “Vui Song Moi Ngay” (Be Happy Everyday) of VTV3 Television visited, recorded CED Center’s activity and interviewed Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED Center and two other parents whose children studying early intervention program at CED. The Television wished to send viewers to awareness of action of intervening early for children with hearing loss. “They, the children with hearing loss can learn speaking and listening well, go to Mainstream Schools and have more chances of studying if found out soon, intervene, use hearing aids…”
On May 11th 2019, The Center for Research and Education for The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) held an outdoor activity between CED students and International School Ho Chi Minh City students at 28 Vo Truong Toan, An Phu Ward, District 2. That was significant activity planned by grade 11 students in DEAFeating Silence Group of ISHCMC coordinating CED to make a drawing and acrylic painting chance for CED students under instruction of the Group. The best art works will be displayed at auction in near future to raise funds for scholarships and hearing aids for students with hearing loss in poor families.
On May 12th 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) was open the new course 63 of Basic Sign Language. There were attendants in difference of ages, job and some of them were people with hearing loss.
On May 13th and 14th 2019, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED Center was invited to share about “Lip Reading and Support for Inclusive Education” for 19 teachers and parents of Center for Educational Rehabilitation for Children with Disabilities in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.
There was a combination of giving 6 hearing aids for 5 students of the center as well.
On May 15th 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) arranged a class of drawing every Wednesday for all CED students to enrich study program and develop their creativity.
On May 18th 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) held the Hearing Care Program: Ears Test, Tympanometry Measurement and Hearing Test for 79 elders of Association for The Elderly Ward 14, Phu Nhuan District on morning May 18th 2019 at People’s Committee Office, 376 Huynh Van Banh Street, Ward 14, Phu Nhuan District, HCMC.
On May 20th and 21st 2019, Ms Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED Center was invited to share about “Education Method for Children with Hearing Loss with or without hearing aids/cochlear implant” for 25 teachers of Schools for Disabled Children in Ben Tre, Long An and Center for Educational Rehabilitation for Children with Disabilities in Ben Tre.
There were 4 keys in that program: Evaluating hearing ability of a child by his/her audiogram; choosing the method of Hear and Speak by Lip-reading; teaching Sign Language; Skill of teaching in Early Intervention, Inclusive Education with main subjects such as Literature, Reading, Word and Sentence, Spelling,…
On May 22rd 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcomed the students coming from HanYang University, Korea who have been studying a trail English program by software.
On May 30th 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) celebrated the Closing Ceremony of period 2018- 2019 for 25 students at CED Center.
On May 31st 2019, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) held an outdoor day for all CED students at Saigon Zoo And Botanical Gardens on the occasion of International Children’s Day- June 1st.
CED’s Hearing Aid Fund: donated 9 new hearing aids to total 7 children with hearing loss and disadvantaged condition in Ninh Thuan, Bac Can and students with hearing loss at Khanh Hoa Disability School in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa.

Consultancy/Peer counseling:
In this month, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard Of Hearing (CED) conducted 84 cases for consultancy / peer counseling in relation with hearing loss field: education, job, hearing aids, giving advice for parents of children with hearing loss, sign language, lip reading, etc…
