ORANGE INITIATIVE EVENT: SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY AND AGENT ORANGE SURVIVORS

 

On morning January 12th and 13th 2019, at C13, Tan Trao Street, Phu My Hung, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City took place a activity to support People With Disability and Agent Orange Survivors (PWD/AOS) in Ho Chi Minh Marathon 2019 implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Peace and Development Foundation (HPDF) collaborated with the organization Pulse Active.   

 

In order to raise awareness and empathy of the community with the efforts of PWD / AOS  to overcome their difficult circumstances , with support them to rise and integrate into society, HPDF has implemented the Orange Initiative (OI).

 

 

This year's OI program is followed by the success of OI at the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Tournament 2017 and 2018, calling attention and support from people who attend the cross-country tour to give a hand: turn the “orange dream” become true.    

 

This event witnesses disabled athletes, they represent for incredible strenght that overcoming limits and connect with people, take empathy from community

 

Enjoy in the atmosphere, Sunday morning, on 13/1, The Center for Research and Education of The Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), 2 members of  Ho Chi Minh City Deaf Club and 1 student with hearing loss studying Arena College joined in the marathon with the range 5km.

 

A member of Ho Chi Minh City Deaf Club became one of four excellent athletes won the prize of the event. 

 

 

 

The range of 5km began at 7:30 and most of athletes finished at 8:30. They were trying their best on the road with happiness and shiny smiles. Besides, we could see the kindness and enthusiasm of supporters. They and athletes are always side by side to help in need.

 

Hopefully, in the coming years, this meaningful series will continue and more and more disabled athletes will participate in the Orange Initiative with the in Ho Chi Minh Marathon.
