SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION – LEARNING GROUP 6th MEETING

On December 11, 2021, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) organized the sixth meeting in the series of 6 follow-up meetings after the “Sign Language Interpreter Training” course, in order to continue supporting participants in knowledge exchange, skill practicing and experience sharing. At this meeting in December, there were 11 participants from the last training in June, who are teachers in special schools, parents and students from Nha Trang, Can Tho, Hanoi, HCMC… and one person with hearing loss.

At the first session, after answering questions from participants Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh asked some questions for the whole group to reflect on orientation for the group in the future in order to continue a network supporting people with hearing loss in the whole country. Thereby, CED will ask participants to list their interpreting experiences, for whom, what contents into an excel file so that everyone can access and learn from.

At the second session, Ms. Tran Phuong Nhung and the sing language interpreters for the last two workshops of CED shared their experiences. After that, Ms. Nhung informed the group about coming activities that need support in sign language interpreting such as celebrating Christmas for the Deaf people at the Churches and CED’s organizing medical examination for people with hearing loss next weekend.

This is the activity in the framework of the project “Promoting the initial legal support and implementation of regulations on medical examination and treatment for people with hearing loss (deaf, hard of hearing and deafened)” of CED, sponsored by EU through JIFF-Oxfam.
