ACCESSING INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS

People with hearing loss cannot hear, lacking of living skills and judgement in life situations. This is also the reason why when going to public places such as hospitals, people with hearing loss cannot “decode” the requests/messages of others in the conversation.

- Relatives, friends,… everyone has their own business, no-one can talk and share with them so that they can have information and communication experience.

- People with hearing loss are limited with listening and speaking, they need to be supported with information and knowledge through reading. What to read, where to read, when to read, for what purposes, are essential.

- TV is the most popular social media which provide practical and useful information for our lives. Unfortunately, people with hearing loss still cannot access this useful and inexpensive source of information.

Recommendation: Sign language and Vietnamese subtitles are needed on all national and HCMC TV channels.
