ACTIVITY REPORT – OCTOBER 2020

Since October, CED students and teachers have started the break-time with 10 minutes of movements. Some simple movements with exciting music would keep them awake, healthy and ready for the following sessions.

 

On October 2, 2020, CED organized the extracurricular session on “Vietnamese folk games” aiming towards creating a playful space for our students’ group activities.

On October 5, 2020, Mr. Nguyen Quang Lam - Assistant to Director of CED welcomed representatives from International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) visiting to discuss about extracurricular activities between CED and ISHCMC.

 

On October 5, 2020, CED received Mid-Autumn’s gifts from:

- The family of student Nguyen Nguyet Linh: 40 mooncakes for our students and 30 bottles of strawberry energy drink Red Dragon.

- The family of student Vu Thuy Kim Ngan: 35 lanterns for CED students.

- The family of Mr. Duong Chi Vien, Ms. Duong Mai Anh: 2 boxes of mooncakes and supported CED’s activity cost.

- Ms. Pham Thanh Thao: 20 crates of Fami soymilk for CED students.

 

On October 15, 2020, CED was invited by the Ho Chi Minh city’s Children Rights Association to the workshop “Empowering roles of social organizations for promoting children’s rights implementation.”

On October 17, 2020, CED students were instructed to decorate cards celebrating Vietnamese Women’s Day 20/10.

They were guided to draw and write wishes sent to grandmothers, mothers and teachers with gratitude for the caring and nurturing that these important Women gave them.

 

On October 16, 2020, at CED, 15 students joined a legal communication workshop presented by the Lawyer – Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Huong, Director of Center of Legal Counseling for the Poor in HCMC, on the Project “Promoting the initial legal support and implementation of regulations on medical examination and treatment for people with hearing loss (deaf, hard of hearing and deafened).”

On October 23, 2020, CED conducted a session with STEM educational model, applying learned knowledge into practical life. The extracurricular session “Traffic Light” was enjoyed excitedly by the little students, even though it was just simulation with mathematic geometry for learning traffic safety.

On October 30, 2020, CED students had a happy time together joining the costume activity on the occasion of Halloween.

The motto was “play with all we have and have fun as much as possible”. This created a bustling atmosphere with cute and lovely “ghosts”.

CED’s Hearing Aid Fund Report: In October 2020, CED’s Hearing Aid Fund granted 8 hearing aids for 4 kids with hearing loss (1 male, 3 female) living in the poor families: 

  1. Ngô Hoàng Ánh Nguyệt: 2 hearing aids (Bac Giang)
  2. Huỳnh Bảo Ngọc: 2 hearing aids (Dong Nai)
  3. Võ Thịnh Phát: 2 hearing aids (HCMC) 
  4. Hân: 2 hearing aids (Gia Lai)

 
On behalf of the children, CED respectfully thanks to the German Lions Foundation and Hear And Say for granting the hearing aids and thanks to Quang Duc Hearing Aid Service Company for installing the devices.

 

Peer Consultation/Counseling

In October, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) conducted 48 consultation/counseling cases on education, hearing aids, consultation for parents who have dificulties in teaching children with hearing loss, sign language, etc…
