On April 2, 2021, CED students joined the extracurricular session on “Painting Peace – Drawing Happiness” and learning more about mental health care.

On April 5, 2021, CED launched the Coordinating Team of the Supporting People with Hearing Loss Network with 14 participants including doctors, lawyers, psychologists, teachers, social workers, parents, people with hearing loss at CED.

On April 7, 2021, CED started recruiting advisory specialists for the program “Skills for supporting people with hearing loss in hospitals” and gender specialist for the project.
On April 9, 2021, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED shared skills for effective accessing services in hospitals for people with hearing loss.

On April 12, 2021, CED launched the program “Giving transparent masks” in celebrating the 23th anniversary of the “Vietnam’s Protection and Care for People with Disability Day” (18/4/1998 – 18/4/2021).

On April 14, 2021, CED students continued with the International Penpal Writing Program “PEACE PEN Project”, and teachers supported translating the letters from English to Vietnamese for them.

On April 15, 2021, CED shared the legal story: In the communication workshops, CED supported one person with hearing loss in difficult situation, giving loan for his colleague more than a year but could not receive the money back.

On April 16, 2021, CED welcomed Ms. Le Thi Thuy Van, student of Primary Education, HCMC Pedagogy University and also the blind student at Thien An Home, coming to visit and exchange about the outdoor activities of visiting Family Garden Farm for CED students.

On April 20, 2021, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh – Director of CED and some teachers had a conversation, instructing and supporting Tran Van Thanh – the senior student of Computer Science, University of Natural Science, HCMC National University, in conducting his graduation thesis on “Building supporting tools for communication with people with hearing loss by sign language”.

On April 26, 2021, CED started recruiting specialist in script writing and video making for communication clip and consulting editor for the handbook guide “Skills for Assisting People with Hearing Loss in Hospitals” for the Project “Promoting the initial legal support and implementation of regulations on medical examination and treatment for people with hearing loss (deaf, hard of hearing and deafened)” of CED, sponsored by EU through JIFF-Oxfam.

On April 27, 2021, CED started recruiting two lecturers for the program “Advanced Training in Sign Language in Medical and Health Care” and one teaching assistant in sign language for the program “Training Sign Language Interpreters”.

Peer Consultation/Counseling:
In April, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) conducted 67 consultation/counseling cases on education, jobs, supporting survey research, hearing aids, consultation for parents who have difficulties in teaching children with hearing loss, sign language, etc…
