Part 1: CED activities
- On October 01-03, 2021, staff and volunteers of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) attended the training on digital safety from the project Digital Safety Hub Vietnam, organized and sponsored by VIETNET-ICT and SECDEV Foundation.

- On October 4, 2021, CED shared the articles written by Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, Med – Director of CED about education of children with hearing loss in USA – the combination of three educational environments.

- On October 7 and 8, 2021, CED teachers and staff attended the Workshop “Psychological supporting for gender specialist of the GBVNET network”, organized by Batik International and psychologists of Hagar International.

- On October 7, 2021, CED had a meeting with Mr. Le Hong Dac and students of the University of Economics and Finance (UEF) in the Direct Marketing class about community partnership with the project “CED’s transparent masks”.

- On October 8, 2021, CED supported Mr. Satawat Thiansai and his friend of the master students’s research group at Sydney University conducting interviews on hearing loss and hearing loss solutions in Vietnam. Participating in the survey were five interviewees, representing for people with hearing loss, teacher in special school, parents of children with hearing loss and audiologist. The survey focused on investigating the barriers of hearing aids and cochlear implant as hearing loss solutions.

- On October 09-10, 2021, CED organized two online sign language practice sessions for 24 participants of the first group of Class 6&7 of the course “Skills for supporting people with hearing loss (Deaf and Hard of Hearing / DHoH) in hospitals”. They are social workers, teachers in special education, parents of children with hearing loss, medical staff and students in HCMC, Hanoi, Phu Tho, Ninh Binh, Can Tho, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Vinh Long, Hai Phong, Dong Nai.

- On October 15, 2021, CED agreed with teachers and parents to conduct online teaching with MOOC for CED students.

- On October 15, 2021, CED had a meeting with students of the the Brand Management class of University of Economics – Finance HCMC (UEF) with the connection and coordination from lecturers at the Service Learning Center UEF, cooperating with CED in the project “CED’s transparent mask”.

- On October 17, 2021, CED attended the workshop “Restructuring organization – Starting post-covid-19 educational activities”, organized by Hoang Duc Education Group and their partners: ESI Management Institutes, Brand Doctor Group; KanSin Company Ltd; HoangDuc Autism Center and SEED Center.

- On October 18, 2021, students of CED joined the online learning session. The objectives of the session are helping students know how to approach and learn by themselves with mobile devices, laptops with internet connection, in the situation of not being able to go to school because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

- On October 20, 2021, CED organized the fourth meeting in the series of 6 follow-up meetings after the “Sign Language Interpreter Training” course, in order to continue supporting participants in knowledge exchange, skill practicing and experience sharing.

- On October 22, 2021, CED attended the experience sharing workshop from projects in HCMC receiving the 2nd funding of JIFF. Participating in the workshop were representatives from the Secretary Board of JIFF - Oxfam, Ministry of Justice, three organizations receiving the second funding in HCMC including CED, the Disability and Development Support Center (DRD), HCMC Association for the Protection of Children's Rights (HACR) and representatives of their partners and beneficiaries, and the organizations receiving the third funding such as HCMC University of Industry, HCMC University of Economics…

- On October 22, 2021, CED attended the Workshop “National Disability Employment Awareness Month” and the theme for this year is “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion," focuses on how persons with disabilities fuel our national recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and how employers are dealing with the challenges presented by employees experience "long-COVID". The workshop was organized by Helen Keller Center in USA.

- On October 23-24, 2021, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED - trained 32 participants who are medical, social work students and medical staff in HCMC, Ca Mau, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Thai Lan on “Skills for supporting people with hearing loss (Deaf and Hard of Hearing / DHoH) in hospitals”.

- On October 28, 2021, CED announced the program to grant hearing aids for the poor children with hearing loss. Parents of children with hearing loss under 18 years of age who wish to apply for hearing aids, please send the audiogram by email to dphanh@trungtamkhiemthinh.org.

Part 2: CED’s Hearing Aid Fund Report
In October 2021, CED’s Hearing Aid Fund granted 35 hearing aids for 21 children with hearing loss in poor families who are studying in schools and organizations:
1./ The Rose School for children with disability in Dong Nai (12 children – 20 hearing aids)
2./ Mai Am – the organization for children with disability in Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan (6 children – 9 hearing aids)
3./ Nguyen Hoang Long, Duc Linh, Binh Thuan (2 hearing aids)
4./ Pham Thao Nguyen, Buon Me Thuot (2 hearing aids)
5./ Pham Minh Tri, Buon Me Thuot (2 hearing aids)

Part 3: Peer Consultation/Counseling
In October, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) conducted 136 consultation/counseling cases on education, sign language, skills for assisting people with hearing loss trainings, jobs, surveys, hearing aids, consulting parents having difficulties in raising children with hearing loss, supporting people with hearing loss in the time of Covid…
