ONLINE CONSULTATION – SPEAKING LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY IN HEARING – SPEAKING

On December 30, 2021, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED consulted online to parents of the child with disability living in Thu Duc, HCMC, who has difficulty in speaking and pronouncing, in order to help the child improve his pronunciation.

The consultation went through the following steps:

Find out information related to the child:

- Age, age of social awareness, ability to hear and speak at the current time.

- His learning at school, early intervention process, individual education program, ...

- Teaching at home of parents: time, activities, worries, ...

- Interactions with other children, relatives and people around.

From the information about the child provided by the parents, the intervention direction for the child was as following:

- The child needs to be checked for the vocal system, the vocal structure (because he has a problem with the facial muscles), to find out the effects on  pronunciation (if any) to know if there is a need for therapeutic activities for children with problems in pronunciation.

- Parents need to create a positive learning environment to help children practice pronunciation and speaking from common communication activities at home.

Parents are also encouraged to stay informed about their child's progress for assistance in planning their child's next language development.
