TRAINING PROGRAM: OPENING SESSION OF THE COURSE 77 ON SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS
On March 8, 2026, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) officially launched the 77th Course of the SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS, taught by Ms. Dương Phương Hạnh, Director of CED. The class includes 34 participants, consisting of 14 professionals working in fields such as Education, Healthcare, Social Work, Art, Media, along with 20 students.
Vietnamese Sign language is one of two themes in the training program on Skills for Communication with People with Hearing Loss (Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened). The second theme is lipsreading.
In the first session, learners were introduced to: (1) An overview of the people with hearing loss community, (2) The concept of sign language, (3) The Vietnamese sign language alphabet, (4) Basic greetings and how to introduce their full names. They also practiced sign language thinking through a fun activity: “Guess the Sign”, and analyzed how signs are formed.
