RECRUITMENT FOR SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER TRAINING

Aiming at helping hospitals meeting the Criteria A2.5 about people with disability can fully access to departments and services in hospitals of the Vietnam Hospital Quality Standard, version 2.0 and understanding the difficulty of people with hearing loss when going to hospitals, CED will organise the program “Sign Language Interpreter Training” as following:

  1. Objectives: After completing the training, participants will have:

- Knowledge: enhanced knowledge on sign language interpreting, profession introduction and practice (history, interpreting from the global perspective, the development of interpretation, cultural reconciliation).

- Skills: basic skills in interpretation (interpretation theory, pre-interpreting skill, translation), consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, interpretation through reflective practice.

- Attitude: having right awareness on sign language interpretation and ethical decision-making.

  1. Eligible candidate: sign language interpreters who do not have formal certificate/degree or teachers, parents who are good at sign language.
  2. Duration time: 5 continuous days, tentatively in June or July.
  3. Venue: *Likely to be conducted online, depending on the Covid situation or at Phương Nam Education Center 357 Lê Hồng Phong, Quận 10, TPHCM.
  4. Lecturers: TWO American Professors và ONE Assistant who is a sign language interpreter with official degree.
  5. Certificate: After completing the training, participants will be granted the certification of the course’s completion by CED.
  6. Tuition and certification cost: The program is sponsored by the project “Promoting the initial legal support and implementation of regulations on medical examination and treatment for people with hearing loss (deaf, hard of hearing and deafened)” of CED, sponsored by EU through JIFF-Oxfam.

  7. Requirements: Please send your CV and one short video clip, introducing about yourself by sign language to the emails below.
