ART CLASS: INTERESTING TEXTURES

On the morning of May 8, 2026, the elementary students at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) enjoyed an exciting Art class themed "Interesting Textures." The session went far beyond simple drawing and painting. The students were guided by their teachers to recognize and distinguish different types of surfaces in nature-from smooth and rough to veined and bumpy. They learned not only with their eyes but, more importantly, with their hands (through touch) to understand how diverse the world is.

Using familiar materials such as paper plates, pencils, and watercolors, our little ones were equipped with clever techniques to transform a flat paper plate into an "interesting texture":

  • Mastering the pencil: Learning how to crease, score, and create form, adding sharp, realistic lines to a simple paper plate.
  • Flexible watercolor techniques: Learning to mix and apply watercolors to create gradient and splattered effects, bringing an artistic depth to each piece.

The session concluded in pure joy with colorful creations. Each finished piece not only demonstrated dexterity and meticulousness but also carried a distinct personal touch, opening up a unique and vibrant worldview for every single student.
