PRACTICE WORDS AND SENTENCES THROUGH THE GAME: THE SECRET BOX
The Secret Box or Sensory Bin is a tool to help students explore and learn through sensory games.
At the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), on May 4, 2023, students of the STEM class had a review session to practice words and sentences with this secret box.
1. One by one they put their hand in the box, touched an object, guessed the name of the object and then took it out of the box.
2. Wrote the name of the object on the board
3. Answered questions related to the items they took out of the box.
The session with the Secret Box, in addition to reviewing words and sentences, also helped students increase their ability to pay attention, stimulate activities of the senses, and develop judgment – which are essential qualities for future social integration.
