ATTENDING THE WORKSHOP: “FEEDBACK ON THE HANDBOOK OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPPORTING PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS (DEAF, HARD HEARING, LATE DEAFENED) EXAMINATION AND TREATMENT AT HOSPITAL”

If you are people with hearing loss, have you ever encountered communication problems when going for medical examination and treatment at medical facilities? If you are a parent of a child with hearing loss, have you ever wondered: "Who will take my child to medical examination and treatment in the future? If you are a medical staff, have you ever been tired and felt helpless because you couldn't communicate with patients with hearing loss?

Understanding the above feelings, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) has compiled a handbook of instructions for supporting people who are deaf, hard of hearing, and deafened for medical examination and treatment at the hospital” which was accepted and compiled by the Ministry of Health into a document issued for Hospitals in Vietnam. In order for the Handbook to be completed before being widely circulated, comments and suggestions from experts are needed. That is the reason for the Workshop "Feedback on the Handbook of instructions for supporting people with hearing loss (deaf, hard of hearing, deafened) for medical examination and treatment at the hospital", held on November 14, 2023. in Ho Chi Minh City. Participants in the conference, besides members of the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), were the leading experts in the health sector.

The workshop received positive feedback on the content and format of the handbook, which is a good sign for the deaf and hard of hearing community and their families. We hope that with its detailed and specific instructions, the Handbook will be a companion for medical staff, making medical examination and treatment for patients with hearing loss more convenient.
