TRANSLATING SPEECH TO TEXT (CAPTION)
On July 9, 2021, CED representatives attended an international event on live caption organized by Live Text Access (LTA). Contents of the event were focussed on these following issues:
- Types of caption: Speech-to-text, Live titling, Remote caption, Respeaking, Voice text
- Related professions: Respeakers, velotypists, live captioners and real-time subtitlers, speech-to-text reporters and interpreters, …
- Equipments for caption typing: Velotype, Stenotype, speech recognition machine, …
- Issues of interests: accuracy, typing speed, delay, acceptable maximum delay.
LTA is a European project aiming at meeting current needs of live subtitling in assisting communication and accessing information for Hard of Hearing people.
The event had more than 142 participants from Europe and other places in the world.
