ART CLASS: OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING

On May 12, 2026, the elementary students at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) participated in an exciting Art class themed "Observational Drawing." The students were guided by their teachers to look at the world through a whole new lens—learning to break down basic forms like circles, boxes, and cylinders hidden inside familiar everyday objects. They learned not only with their eyes but, more importantly, with a sense of creative freedom, understanding that art is about drawing what you "see," not just what you already "know."

Using familiar materials such as A4 paper, pencils, and colored markers along with everyday items (pencil cases, globes, cameras...), our little ones learned how to transform ordinary objects into vibrant works of art:

• Learning how to use a viewfinder to arrange a well-balanced composition on A4 paper.

• Harmonizing eye-to-hand coordination to record every magical detail and line of the objects.

• Learning how to mix and apply colors flexibly to depict the texture, light, and shadow of the objects.

Through this session, the students not only practiced high concentration but also learned to cherish and love the items connected to their daily lives and learning.
