STUDENT WITH HEARING LOSS LEARNING ENGLISH

On January 9, 2021, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) consulted online on learning English for a deaf student in Phu Yen, who is currently studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities HCMC.

During the consultation, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh - Director of CED discussed and guided how to learn English for the deaf student, encouraging her to focus on practicing English reading and writing skills by:

- Read English-Vietnamese bilingual books and practice translating from English to Vietnamese

- Read, understand and learn to memorize good sentence patterns.

- When encountering new vocabulary, learn not only words but also the whole sentence structure with the vocabulary.

Besides, Ms. Hanh shared more information for the deaf student about policies supporting deaf students when taking international English tests (TOIEC, TOEFL, etc.) at some English teaching centers and some policies supporting students of foreign universities.
