ART: THE VERSATILE APPLES – “REALITY OR IMAGINATION?”
On August 25, 2024, STEM students at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) embarked on an exciting artistic journey themed “Reality or Imagination”. Beyond a typical drawing lesson, this session provided a space for students to blend realistic observation with their creative souls.
To provide the most vivid experience, teachers set up real apples as still-life models. From these tangible objects, students were free to choose one of two challenges:
• Realistic Drawing: A challenge to observe fine details, color blending, and shading to recreate the apple as realistically as possible.
• Imaginative Drawing: Breaking the boundaries of reality to transform the apple into unique shapes, reflecting each student's personal style and creativity.
In a focused and inspiring atmosphere, the STEM students meticulously followed these steps:
• Observation: Closely examining the shape, color, and unique features of the real apples.
• Sketching: Choosing a preferred style and making the first strokes on paper.
• Creative Coloring: Using various art materials to breathe life into their work, expressing their personality through every shade.
The lesson was more than just creating beautiful artwork; it was an essential exercise to help STEM students develop multi-dimensional thinking and concentration. Through a familiar subject like an apple, students were encouraged to confidently showcase their unique perspectives.
