EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY: SCREENING OF THE MOVIE "WONDER"

On May 28, 2026, students from the STEM class at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) participated in an extracurricular screening of the movie "Wonder."

The film follows the journey of Auggie Pullman, a young boy born with a rare facial deformity. After spending his early childhood undergoing numerous surgeries and being homeschooled, Auggie enters a mainstream school for the first time in the fifth grade.

His initial days at school are far from easy. Auggie has to navigate curiosity, isolation, and even bullying from some classmates due to his unique appearance. However, through his own courage, kindness, and resilience—coupled with the unwavering love of his family, teachers, and true friends—Auggie gradually wins the hearts and understanding of those around him.

"Wonder" goes beyond Auggie’s personal story to explore the perspectives of those around him, including his sister, his peers, and his parents. It reminds the audience that everyone fights their own hidden battles, and everyone deserves love and respect.

Ultimately, the screening conveyed a powerful message: never judge others by their appearance, and always embrace individual differences. It also highlighted how self-confidence and perseverance can empower us to overcome life's greatest challenges.
