EXTRACURRICULAR: PROUD NATIONAL DAY – TOWARDS THE ROOTS
On August 28, 2026, at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), students from the STEM class participated in a meaningful extracurricular session to celebrate Vietnam's National Day (September 2nd).
In a solemn yet exciting atmosphere, under the guidance of their teachers, the students:
• Explored the meaning of National Day: They learned about the concept of National Day – a major holiday marking the birth of a nation. Moving beyond Vietnam, students expanded their knowledge about the Independence Days of other countries such as the USA (July 4th), France (July 14th), and Japan (February 11th), along with the unique celebration activities in those nations.
• Returned to National History: The core of the session focused on Vietnam's National Day, September 2nd. The students watched documentary footage of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square. The colorful images of military parades helped them understand more about the country's major holiday.
• Shared moments with poetry: Shared moments with poetry: The class practiced reading an excerpt from the poem “Following Uncle Ho’s Footsteps” by poet To Huu. The simple verses helped them better visualize Uncle Ho on that first Independence Day.
• Had fun learning with Bingo: After focused study hours, the students enjoyed an energetic relaxation period with a Bingo game. Through this activity, they were not only entertained but also practiced reading and reviewing vocabulary related to history and National Day in a natural and easy-to-understand way.
The extracurricular activity not only cultivated historical knowledge and national pride but also provided an opportunity for STEM students to practice their language skills and build confidence. The intent gazes at the images of Uncle Ho and the bright smiles during the Bingo game were evidence of a successful and experiential session.
