EXTRACURRICULAR SESSION: WHEN HAPPINESS BLOOMS

On March 13th, 2026, The Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) was filled with laughter during a special extracurricular program to celebrate the International Day of Happiness, organized by 4th-year Educational Psychology students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE).

The journey to find the “melody” of happiness was captured through two meaningful stages:

Stage 1: The Mystery Box - Spreading Emotions.

In the middle of lively music, the students passed around a box containing emotional “blind bags” or sweet candies. When the music stopped, the student holding the box picked a random bag inside. If it was an emotion card, they would act out that emotion for their friends to guess. This activity encouraged the students to recognize and express their feelings, helping them understand that all emotions deserve respect and that there are always friends around ready to listen and empathize.

Stage 2: The Tree of Happiness - Cherishing Simple Things

Vibrant paper flowers were hand-cut, decorated, and carefully inscribed by the students with the small joys they experienced that day. From a simple bare trunk, the "Tree of Happiness" gradually bloomed brilliantly with the colors of positive thoughts. Each flower was a short story, each line of text was a moment to cherish. Looking back at the "Tree of Happiness" together, everyone could feel that happiness sometimes starts from the simplest things - a smile, a friend, or a shared moment.

The extracurricular session closed with radiant eyes and lingering emotions. We hope that through these simple activities, students will realize that happiness is always present in the little things in life; we just need to pause for a moment to feel and appreciate them.
