CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS AT SPECIAL SCHOOLS IN LONG AN, CAN THO AND BEN TRE PROVINCES

On November 15, 2021, Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) accepted the invitation of the Worldwide Orphans Foundation Vietnam (WWO), organizing the capacity building training for nearly 70 teachers at special schools for children with disabilities in Long An, Can Tho and Ben Tre.  

The lecturer is Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, M.Ed – Director of CED – who has many years of experience in education and working with hearing loss community.

The training has taken place from November 15-18, 2021.

The content of the training includes:

- Method for teaching sign language for children with hearing loss, how to express sentences in sign language.

- Speechreading.

Teachers who participated in the training practice teaching methods in sign language and speechreading by developing their own lectures according to their schools’ programs and their students. From there, they analyzed and clarified the content of the lessons under the instruction of the lecturer.

So far, the training has organized 3 sessions, participants have actively engaged in the lessons, they have shared experiences and learned from each other.

CED is very happy to accompany with special schools in Vietnam in order to learn and support each other for the development of deaf children in Vietnam, wishing that the deaf can be improved in their reading, writing, aiming toward fully and true social inclusion.
