TRAINING PROGRAM: OPENING SESSION OF THE COURSE 76 ON SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS
On October 26, 2025, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) officially launched the 76th Course of the Skills in communication with people with hearing loss, taught by Ms. Dương Phương Hạnh, Director of CED. The class includes 30 participants, consisting of 16 professionals working in fields such as Healthcare, Education, Social Work, Information Technology, Customer Service along with 14 students.
Vietnamese Sign language is one of two themes in the training program on Skills for Communication with People with Hearing Loss (Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened). The second theme is lipsreading.
In the first session, learners were introduced to: (1) An overview of the people with hearing loss community, (2) The concept of sign language, (3) The Vietnamese sign language alphabet, (4) Basic greetings and how to introduce their full names. They also practiced sign language thinking through a fun activity: “Guess the Sign”, and analyzed how signs are formed.
