TRAINING PROGRAM: THE COURSE 78 OF SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS (SESSION 6)
On July 12, 2026, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) held the sixth session of the Skills in Communication with People with Hearing Loss – Course 78, led by Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, Director of CED. The class comprised 29 participants, including 17 professionals from fields such as education, healthcare, marketing, business, and tourism, along with 12 students.
At the beginning of the session, participants reviewed the previous lesson’s content through vocabularies and sentence on the topics of "Colors" and "Fruits."
In the sixth session, participants learned sign language vocabularies and sentences related to the topics of "Time" and "Weather," including:
- The main rules in forming time and weather signs: palm orientation, wrist position, sunrise and sunset, etc.
- Practicing question-and-answer patterns about time, days, months, years, seasons, and weather.
At the end of the session, participants reviewed how to sign the songs "Sắc màu em yêu" and "Đi học" to reinforce what they had learned. They then enthusiastically learned to sign an excerpt from the poem "Thời gian." This activity helped them review previously learned vocabularies while also expanding their sign language vocabularies beyond the lesson content.
Sign language is one of two themes in the training program on Skills in Communication with People with Hearing Loss (Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened). The second theme is lipsreading.
