ART CLASS: DISCOVERING PERSONAL IDENTITY – "WHO AM I IN THE NATURAL WORLD?"
On September 8, 2026, STEM students at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) enjoyed an engaging art class with the theme: “Who am I in the natural world?”. The lesson was an opportunity for the students to learn more about the world of plants while exploring their own feelings and personality.
The class started with a fun and hands-on warm-up activity:
• Feeling with touch: Each student picked a stone at random and used their hands to feel whether it was smooth or rough, round or flat.
• Drawing from thoughts: After feeling the stone, students drew and colored it according to their own imagination and feelings.
Following the warm-up, the teacher and students explored the diverse world of plants:
• Learning about plants: Students were introduced to various plant types, including herbaceous plants (herbs), shrubs, woody trees, vines, creepers, aquatic plants, medicinal plants, succulents, and unusual plants from around the world, along with their special meanings.
• Connecting with oneself: Students reflected on which plant best matched their own personality and traits.
• Expressing emotions through art: Through their drawings of a chosen plant, each student comfortably expressed their true emotions and unique character on paper.
The class was filled with joy and comfort. The students at CED not only learned useful facts about nature, but also learned to listen to themselves and express who they are through simple, lovely drawings.
