CED CENTER WELCOMES SENIOR INTERNS FROM HO CHI MINH CITY CADRE ACADEMY

On September 11, 2026, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) welcomed three Social Work seniors from the Ho Chi Minh City Cadre Academy for their graduation internship.

During the orientation meeting, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, Director of CED, directly guided and shared valuable insights regarding the role and essential skills of a field social worker. Specifically, the Center's leadership emphasized the following core areas:

1. Specialized Communication Methods: Providing guidance on appropriate approaches for different groups of individuals with hearing loss:

o Individuals with good hearing and speaking abilities.

o Individuals who face hearing and speaking difficulties but have practical life experience.

o Individuals with profound hearing loss (whether young children or over 10 years old) who face significant communication barriers and rely on written communication.

2. Proactive Organizational Research: Thoroughly studying CED’s operations through its official website and media channels.

3. Adherence to Internship Principles: Strictly complying with institutional regulations, actively listening, and demonstrating readiness to collaborate with the team.

To provide the best possible support throughout their internship, CED awarded the students scholarships to attend skill-enhancement courses and granted access to a rich repository of specialized resources. Key materials include the books: The World of the People with hearing loss and Living with Hearing Loss, the handbook on guiding skills to support people with hearing loss in medical examination and treatment in hospitals, the handbook “Let Our Voice Resound”, among others.

On behalf of CED, we express our sincere gratitude to the faculty members of the Social Work Department at Ho Chi Minh Cadre Academy for trusting and connecting their students with us. CED wishes the interns a highly productive internship enriched with valuable practical experience.
