HEARING LOSS IS ONLY INCONVENIENT, NOT UNFORTUNATE

On November 20, 2021, Ms. Duong Phuong Hanh, M.Ed, Director of Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED), was invited to give  a talk to students of the University of Economic and Finance (UEF) by the Board of Executive of the Service Learning Network Leaders of UEF.

Topic of the talk was “Hearing loss is only inconvenient, not unfortunate”. Studetns were informed about the characteristics, how to communicate with hearing loss community and the positive approach to social inclusion, as the spirit of the topic implied. Students also experienced being a hearing loss, LISTENING through SEEING; exploring sign language – the interesting point was that they could understand the short content described by sign language even though they had not yet learned sign language.

We hope that, after this sharing, students would understand more about people with hearing loss and join hands in supporting people with hearing loss as CED has been and is doing.
