INCLUSIVE EDUCATION: INCLUSIVE LEARNING SKILLS
T.N has been attending CED programs—ranging from early intervention and a pre-first-grade class to various summer courses—since the age of five.
T.N faced a very difficult time during middle school: an inability to communicate, teasing from classmates, and a struggle with negative emotions. Terrified of going to school throughout those years, T.N switched to homeschooling, attending classes only for tests or semester exams—an arrangement the school accommodated. Family efforts to encourage regular attendance were unsuccessful.
This summer (2026), T.N returned to CED, just as in previous years. This time, T.N participated in the "Inclusive Learning Skills" course organized by CED. The course helped strengthen several key skills:
1. Emotion management: T.N and other students with hearing loss from inclusive settings were guided to recognize their own emotions, identify feelings that arise in an inclusive school environment, and learn ways to process and release those emotions.
2. Communication challenges and solutions in an inclusive school setting.
3. Challenges and solutions regarding inclusive learning, aimed at developing the necessary skills to succeed in that environment.
4. Understanding the purpose of school rules, complying with them, and knowing how to ask for assistance.
The good news is that T.N has returned to regular school attendance alongside peers—meaning TMN no longer avoids going to school.
Congratulations to T.N.
Congratulations on the effort put into engaging with inclusive education.
