TRAINING PROGRAM: THE COURSE 79 ON SKILLS IN COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS (SESSION 01)

On September 06, 2026, the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) officially launched the 79th Course of the "Skills in Communication with People with Hearing Loss" program, taught by Ms. Dương Phương Hạnh, Director of CED.

The course attracted over 40 registrations and inquiries, welcoming a diverse group of 20 participants of various ages and professions. Among them, 15 professionals are currently working in essential fields such as Education, Healthcare, Social Work, and Customer Service. The remaining 05 are students majoring in Psychology and Social Work, who received full scholarships from CED with the goal of enhancing their awareness and applying these acquired skills to their future studies and community service.

The course is systematically designed with two core themes to guide learners in optimal communication methods with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Late-Deafened individuals, including: Vietnamese Sign Language and Lip reading (basic level).

The opening session was a great success with practical introductory content. Participants were first introduced to foundational concepts regarding people with hearing loss and sign language, while immediately practicing the Vietnamese alphabet, basic greetings, and self-introduction. Notably, the method of teaching sign language thinking through the interactive activity "Guess the Sign" and analyzing sign formation structures provided an active, creative, and engaging learning experience for the class.
