SELF-STUDY SESSION: READING BOOKS AND SHARING FAVORITE VOCABULARY

On a quiet afternoon in the classroom, elementary students at the Center for Research and Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CED) had a meaningful self-study session with activities focused on reading and sharing their favorite vocabulary words. Each student chose a book that matched their interests, read quietly, and took notes on new or impressive words they encountered.

After reading, the students took turns sharing their chosen vocabulary, using spoken words, writing, or illustrations to explain the meanings. This self-study session not only helped students improve their reading skills and expand their vocabulary, but also gave them a chance to express their feelings, thoughts, and connect with their peers through language in a creative and engaging way.
